Yorkshire Dance seek independent artists to join the Advisory Group

Yorkshire Dance are looking for four independent artists, based in Yorkshire or the North, to join the Artist Advisory Group for a two-year term from April 2025-March 2027. 

This is a paid position – each artist receives £100 per meeting or event. If you enjoy sharing your views and generous, open debate Yorkshire Dance would love to hear from you. The deadline to apply is 10.00am, Monday 12 May 2025.

Yorkshire Dance is keen to understand the experience of freelance artists so they can design and develop programmes which meet the needs of freelancers and benefit our wider communities. Their Artist Advisory Group take time to understand their charitable mission, aims and values and are active in exchanging ideas and influencing the planning and evaluation of Yorkshire Dance’s programmes.

Across two years, members of the Artist Advisory Group attend three meetings per year to share their expertise, experience, skills, and creative ideas to inform discussion and debate. In addition, they will co-facilitate Yorkshire Dance’s Annual Artist Gathering, held in November each year. Yorkshire Dance also encourages members of the Artist Advisory group to attend at least one Yorkshire Dance event per year in order to gain greater understanding of their work.

Artist Advisory Group meetings are facilitated by Creative Director, Hannah Robertshaw and Artist Development Producer, João Maio and take place Monday – Friday, during office hours. Meetings take place in person at our building in central Leeds or if this is not possible via Microsoft Teams.

Yorkshire Dance engages a wide range of people and therefore they are looking for a wide range of artists of diverse practice, cultural and socio-economic background, age, gender identity, sexuality and career stage. They are looking for artists who have an interest in the wider dance sector beyond their own work and are passionate about developing the regional and national dance ecology.
