Surface Area Dance Theatre Hosts Newcastle’s Deaf Rave – A Groundbreaking Celebration of Deaf Culture

Surface Area Dance Theatre is thrilled to announce Newcastle’s Deaf Rave, an extraordinary event celebrating Deaf culture, creativity, and community. Taking place on Saturday, 8th March 2025, at Newcastle Contemporary Art, this inclusive, family-friendly day-to-night experience will feature workshops, live music, DJs, North East based professional performers, and more.

The event is hosted in collaboration with the renowned Deaf Rave Collective, known for empowering Deaf and hearing audiences to come together through art, music, and shared experiences.

The event will open with Daytime Workshops – for children and families to dive into creativity and connection during interactive workshops, designed to engage and inspire participants of all abilities:

Workshop 1 for Ages 7+ will take place from 14:00 – 15:30, and Workshop 2 for Ages 12+ will take place from 15:30 – 17:00.

The event will then play host to a Nighttime Rave – for adults ages 18 and over to light up the night with an unforgettable rave featuring, Live music, Dynamic DJs and Stunning dancing. The rave runs from 19:00 – 23:00.

Newcastle’s Deaf Rave is an event for everyone and aims to celebrate inclusivity. All activities are fully accessible to Deaf and hearing attendees, with BSL interpreters and visual aids ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
