Stopgap Launches Kaleidoscope: New Course Makes Access Central to Artistry
Stopgap Dance Company is thrilled to present Kaleidoscope, a transformative new online course that reimagines access not as an add-on, but as a vibrant and integral part of the creative process itself.
Running across four weeks in January 2026, this series of seven interactive evening workshops (6–7:30 pm UK time) invites artists, producers, and creatives of all experience levels to explore how creative captioning, audio description, relaxed performance, and integrated access can enrich artistry from the very first idea. Delivered entirely online via Zoom and with every session recorded for six months, you can join from anywhere in the world and learn at your own pace.
Led by Stopgap’s acclaimed artists Lucy Bennett and Lily Norton, alongside groundbreaking guest experts Ben Glover, Quiplash, and Tourettes Hero, the programme draws directly on the company’s experience creating the multi-award-winning production Lived Fiction. Through a blend of knowledge-sharing, open discussion, and practical tasks in a supportive, relaxed, and fully accessible environment, participants will gain confidence, fresh perspectives, and hands-on tools to move beyond mere compliance and embed access as a driving force of imagination and innovation.
The seven sessions – Introducing Creative Access, Creative Captioning with Ben Glover, Creative Audio Description with Quiplash, Integrated Audio Description in Dance, Sensory Sensibility with Touretteshero, Welcoming Audiences to Lived Fiction, and Making Creative Access Work – can be booked as a complete course for £300 (or £200 for those on low incomes or receiving support) or individually at £50 per workshop.
Reimagine access as artistry. Expand your practice, challenge conventions, and discover exciting new creative possibilities.
