Sharon Eyal collaborates with musician Koreless on UK premiere of ‘Into the Hairy’
Multi-award winning choreographer Sharon Eyal and collaborator Gai Behar partner with London-based artist, producer and composer Koreless for the physical and sensual Into the Hairy, which receives its UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells Theatre this November.
Featuring an original soundtrack by the Welsh musician and costumes from Maria Grazia Chiuri, Into the Hairy is an intimate work for eight dancers. Co-commissioned by Sadler’s Wells, it is a powerful, idiosyncratic work about the strength in vulnerability. The language of movement is hypnotizing, rhythmic, and elusive, the culmination of Eyal’s improvised moves caught and harnessed in a highly sensory and virtuosic form. Clad in bodysuits that highlight every move and muscle, the dancers exude a detached, otherworldly air and leave the audience entranced. Into the Hairy tests the limits of contemporary dance by connecting classical dance with the underground club culture.
Into the Hairy received its world premiere at Montpellier Danse in June 2023, and has since toured internationally including to France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Sweden Spain, and Kazakhstan. An expanded version of the production, created with NDT premiered in the Netherlands earlier this year and was won the Dutch Swan for best dance performance 2025. Following the performances at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, the production tours to Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
On 3 November, Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage released an in-depth conversation between Sadler’s Wells Artistic Director Alistair Spalding and Sharon Eyal as part of its Choreographer Conversations series, in which Eyal discusses her creative process and talks about her distinctive work, ahead of the performances of Into the Hairy at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
