Registrations for RIDCC 2025 are now open!

RIDCC, Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, is the world’s largest choreographic duet competition. This prestigious platform offers emerging national and international choreographers a unique opportunity to showcase their work and compete for 14 awards, including the XL Production Award worth €100,000! By doing so, RIDCC serves as a significant springboard for participants’ careers. Registrations for the seventh edition, held from June 12–14, 2025, at Theater Rotterdam, are now open!

This year, participating choreographers have the opportunity to compete for 14 prestigious awards. The centerpiece is the XL Production Award, an unparalleled prize in the dance world. The winner will create a professional production with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, valued at €100,000. This award is made possible by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Stichting Droom en Daad, and RIDCC. Additionally, 12 Partner Awards—offered by (inter)national partners—provide opportunities for residencies or new creations. The Audience Award, funded by audience contributions, rewards the public’s favorite choreographer.

Founders and artistic directors Maya Roest and Mischa van Leeuwen invite choreographers to participate: “As the artistic directors of RIDCC, we welcome choreographers from all countries and backgrounds to submit a duet and share their creativity, passion, and stories with us. We look forward to works that push boundaries and inspire.”

Dance makers and choreographers from around the world have until March 1, 2025, to submit their choreography via the registration form on the RIDCC website. The pre-jury will have the challenging task of selecting sixteen participants from all the submissions. These talented choreographers will present their duets live for the first time during the semi-finals on June 12 and 13. The jury will then select the finalists who will advance to the grand final on Saturday, June 14.

RIDCC’s five-member pre-jury, with extensive experience in various dance styles, consists of:

Alexander Vantournhout – Performer and choreographer of Not Standing, a Belgian circus and dance company; Polina Skarga – Experimental battle dancer from Ukraine; Mohamed Yusuf Boss – Dancer, choreographer, and theater maker of X_YUSUF_BOSS, a Dutch platform for diverse stories; Astrid Boons – Performer, choreographer, and associate artist at Korzo; and Mischa van Leeuwen – Founder of RIDCC, former dancer at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, choreographer.

Over the years, RIDCC has brought together a wide range of partners who contribute to the growth and development of young and emerging choreographers. We are proud to see how each partner offers unique opportunities to the participants of our festival.

The partners for RIDCC 2025 are: Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Maas Theater & Dans, Club Guy & Roni, Codarts Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst, Dansateliers, Korzo, MiR Dance Company GelsenKirchen (Germany), Het Nationale Ballet, Skånes Dansteater (Sweden), Nederlands Dans Theater, SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht, CCN de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne / EMKA (France), TANZ Bielefeld (Germany), and TanzLabor ROXY Ulm (Germany).

FORM Dance Projects (Australia) joins as a 2025 partner.

The sixteen selected participants not only have the opportunity to present their work to an international audience at RIDCC, but also to further develop themselves and become part of the exclusive RIDCC network. Through RIDCC’s extensive programme, they meet other choreographers, RIDCC partners, and various professionals from the dance world. This offers them a chance to exchange ideas and collaborate with peers.

During RIDCC, participants take part in a specially curated programme focused on their personal and professional growth. The programme includes a light design workshop, masterclasses by Peggy Olislaegers, networking opportunities with our partners, and intensive coaching sessions. These sessions provide valuable tools to support their development into successful, independent choreographers.

The atmosphere at RIDCC is not competitive; on the contrary, it fosters an open and inspiring environment where participants learn from each other. They share experiences, ideas, and inspiration, often resulting in valuable friendships and collaborations. This unique setting not only stimulates artistic growth but also strengthens the sense of community within the international dance world.
