Prix de Lausanne 2024 Jury and Rising Stars artists
The 52nd edition of the Prix de Lausanne, to be held from January 28 to February 4, 2024 at Beaulieu, will be presided over by Darcey Bussell, Dame Commander of the British Empire and President of the Royal Academy of Dance. On the Sunday following the final will take place Rising Stars, an exceptional performance featuring former Prix de Lausanne Prize Winners Julian Mackay & Madison Young, as well as the finalists and newly-appointed Prize Winners of the 2024 edition. Finally, five finalists have been selected for the fourth edition of the Young Creation Award, who will present their original choreographies during the competition week.
For this 52nd edition, the Prix de Lausanne has invited an exceptional panel of nine Jury members. They are: Darcey Bussell (President), Federico Bonelli (Vice-President), Edson Barbosa, Sarah-Jane Brodbeck, Tracy Inman, Sue Jin Kang, Rainer Krenstetter, Aki Saito, and Yohan Stegli.
This year, the Prix de Lausanne set up Rising Stars, an exceptional performance featuring international dance artists, former Prix de Lausanne Prize Winners as well as the finalists and designated Prize Winners of the 2024 edition. This is a unique opportunity for the public to (re)discover great artists, as well as a “best of” of the 2024 Final with the newly crowned Laureates. The two guest Principal Dancers are Julian Mackay & Madison Young. They will dance Angelin Preljocaj’s pas de deux Le Parc and the pas de deux from Don Quichotte.
The first part of Rising Stars will present choreographic projects, with an additional performance of the two winning variations of the Young Creation Award, as well as the original piece of the Partner School Choreographic Project, created this year by guest choreographer Kinsun Chan for 24 dancers from the Prix de Lausanne’s partner schools.
The performance will take place on the Théâtre de Beaulieu stage, on Sunday February 4, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
The Young Creation Award, a choreographic competition for young dancers from Prix de Lausanne’s partner schools, will be held for the fourth year running. For this edition, 55 young choreographers (31 girls and 24 boys) from 19 different partner schools submitted a variation, from which 5 were selected. The 2 winning choreographies, chosen by the Jury on Wednesday January 31, 2024, will be presented during the Interlude of the Final of the competition as well as on the Sunday following the Final during Rising Stars. These variations will then be included in the Prix de Lausanne repertoire of contemporary variations for the 2025 edition.
The Prix de Lausanne will be open to the public, Monday 28 January to Sunday 4 February 2024. Visit ticketcorner.ch to book now.
