Let’s Dance! New UK-wide initiative inspires everyone in the UK to get dancing

Let’s Dance! – the fantastic UK-wide initiative and campaign spearheaded by broadcaster and journalist Angela Rippon CBE, which encourages everybody to embrace the joy and benefits of dancing – is getting ready to launch!

Let’s Dance is a national campaign to inspire everyone in the UK to embrace dance as a way to improve their health, connect with others, and have fun. Their mission is to get more people dancing together, regardless of age, fitness level, or experience.

Founded by Angela Rippon CBE, the campaign is supported by leading organisations including the Sport and Recreation Alliance, NHS, and Parkinson’s UK. When Angela Rippon CBE reconnected with dance on Strictly Come Dancing, she saw firsthand the physical, mental, and social benefits of dancing regularly. Inspired by her journey and the conversations it sparked across the UK – particularly among older adults – Angela partnered with national organisations to launch a campaign that brings dance to everyone.

Whether you’re 8 or 80, a complete beginner, or a lifelong dancer, Let’s Dance is here to make movement joyful, accessible, and inclusive. Let’s Dance aims to show the UK the incredible physical, mental, and social benefits of dance, all while making dance easy to join and uniting communities through the joy of shared movement.

Let’s Dance! is now part of the NHS’s 10-year plan to promote fitness, health, and wellbeing. Dance is being officially recognised as a vital activity that improves both mental and physical health, combats loneliness, and brings sheer joy through creativity and community.

As Angela Rippon CBE, Let’s Dance founder, puts it, “Dance is the perfect exercise to improve the health and wellbeing of mind and body, regardless of age or physical condition..  And a great way to meet new people and beat isolation and loneliness.”

Sunday, 2 March 2025 is the first national day of dance. Dance Teachers, Community Groups, and Members of the Public are all encouraged to get involved. Ready to join the movement? Whether you want to find a dance event near you or host your own, Let’s Dance is here to help you take the first step.

Over 50,000 dance teachers, companies, and organisations across the UK are invited to host events on Sunday 2 March 2025. The Let’s Dance! Event Guide is now available, providing everything you need to host your event, from posters to risk assessment resources. Visit the official website to access the guide, register your event, and join the movement to get Britain dancing.
